3d design workshop

For our first day in the 3d workshop we where experimenting with different techniques we could do. The first thing we started off with was the basics and we had to cut a shape out of a block of Mdf I used a coping saw so I could do curves because I decided to make a love heart. When doing this I made sure I put my hair in a bobble and took my lanyard off. After I had cut out the love heart I filed the eges to make it smooth and no bumps ect. This was my love heart.
After we moved on to mounting where you used a block of wood at different angles like this
And then you get a thin strip of pine and then cut them at the length you want I did all mine the same size. These where my pieces of pine.
After I had cut them I had to sand them down at an angle to give the wood that angle so you can join the together. This was my pine when mounted together.
After I wanted to do the nails technique in my love heart to I went to the pillar drill and drilled holes about 1cm apart ready to knock the nails into. When doing this I had to remember to tie my hair back, not to wear my lanyard, and to wear goggles. Once I had drilled the holes and got a metal hammer and knocked the nails into the love heart. I then painted some of the wood in red acrylic and and then dried it with the heat gun. This was my final peice of all my experiments all together.
The week after we had pick and  plan and measure out final design, ready to go onto our Mdf this was my plan.
